Many refer to the Festivals of the Bible as “Jewish Festivals”. Yet, the truth is, they are the Festivals of YWHW—the only true and living God. YWHW commanded the observance of these Festivals to prepare and inform us about the coming of his chosen Messiah and Pesach (Passover Lamb). By rejecting them the Church has lost much in its understanding of Yeshua, its true and living Head. In fact, the Church does itself a disfavour not to give due reverence to the whole of Scripture—both the Hebrew and the Greek texts. For without a thorough understanding of the Tenach (Old Testament) we cannot understand the Brit Haddashah (New Covenant). The reason for this being that its authors assumed a thorough knowledge of the Tenach in their readers and thus did not feel the need to expand further on what should already have been known. It is often said that “The New is in the Old concealed and the Old is in the New revealed”. It would be better to state it as, “The New is in the Old contained and the Old is in the New explained.” Throughout the coming year we hope these pages will help you to learn about these Festivals of YWHW and thus more about our lovely Lord and Saviour, Yeshua. |
